Paul Davis & Habitat for Humanity Canada

Partnering with Habitat for Humanity Canada:

Paul Davis Canada is embarking on strategic partnership to support Habitat for Humanity Critical Repair Program by participating in the following 3 initiatives:

ReStore Retail:

Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a retailer where Canadians can donate or buy new and used items at over 100 locations nationwide, with profits supporting Habitat for Humanity's core mission of building safe, affordable homes for families across Canada.

As a proud partner, Paul Davis donates usable building materials, furniture, appliances, and more from our restoration worksites to local ReStores, helping divert reusable items from landfills while giving local communities access to quality, affordable goods.

Critical Repair Program:

The program focuses on small-scale, high-impact home repairs rather than full home builds, targeting homeowners who already have a house but can't afford essential repairs.

Paul Davis lends our trade expertise and hands-on restoration experience to complete these repairs, working directly with local Habitat for Humanity offices to help homeowners stay safely in their homes.

Repair to Care Month:

Repair to Care is a national fundraising initiative that mobilizes Paul Davis teams, customers, and communities to support Habitat for Humanity Canada’s Critical Repair Program every October.

Together, we help Canadian homeowners who cannot access or afford traditional home repair services so they can live safely in their own homes with dignity.

Critical Repair Program FAQ

  • What is the Critical Repair program?

Critical Repair is a Habitat for Humanity program focused on small-scale, high-impact home repairs, rather than full home builds. It supports homeowners who already have a house but cannot afford essential repairs.

  • Who is eligible for Critical Repair support?

The program targets homeowners who own their home but lack the financial means to complete necessary repairs, such as accessibility improvements or safety fixes, that allow them to remain safely in their homes. Homeowners can contact Habitat for Humanity directly to discuss their individual eligibility for participation in the program.

  • What kind of repairs does the program cover?

Repairs are small-scale but high-impact, ranging from safety and accessibility upgrades (e.g.: mobility ramps) to other essential fixes that prevent displacement and extend the life of a home. Repairs could include restoration work, clean up and repair damage due to water, fire, mould, storm or other disasters.

  • How is Paul Davis involved in Critical Repair projects?

Habitat for Humanity provides a list of repair projects to Paul Davis Head Office. They are then matched to local Paul Davis offices. Participating local teams then work directly with their Habitat for Humanity contact to complete the required repairs.

  • How does Paul Davis report on completed projects?

Once work is completed, the local Paul Davis office will provide the local Habitat for Humanity office details of the services provided and the associated value in kind. This information is recorded in an inventory management system, which can tabulate the total value of all projects throughout the year.

Paul Davis will highlight various projects and stories on a regular basis via our social media channels.

  • Can you share an example of the program's impact?

Joann, a homeowner with limited mobility, was unable to leave her home safely due to a lack of an accessible entrance. Through the Critical Repair program, she received an accessibility ramp that allowed her to regain her independence and reconnect with her community.

If you want to see more of Joann’s story and how you can make an impact in the lives of Canadian, please visit this site.

  • Why does Paul Davis support Critical Repair rather than only new builds?

Critical Repair prevents displacement, extends the life of existing housing, and improves quality of life immediately, strengthening neighborhoods without requiring new construction. This program aligns directly with Paul Davis’ core offering and values of sustainability, community involvement and of helping people in their time of need.
